Unit
Create and manage units of measurement for use across invoices, bills, purchases, and inventory — ensuring consistency in quantity tracking and reporting.
🔐 Access Control
- Only Admin users with the correct permissions can access this setting
- From the Dashboard, go to Accounting → Setup → Unit
➕ Creating a Unit
Click the + button to open the unit creation form.
| Field | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Unit Name* | Label used to define quantity type | Hours, Days, Litres, Kg, Visits, Sessions |
Tip:
- Use sector-fit units for clarity (e.g.
Visitsfor care homes,Sessionsfor consulting,Kgfor logistics) - Avoid ambiguous labels like
UnitorItem— be specific to the service or product
📋 Managing Units
Once created, units appear in a table:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Unit | Name of the measurement type |
| Action | Edit or delete the unit |
Note:
- Units are referenced when adding line items to invoices, bills, and purchase orders
- Deleting a unit does not affect historical records — it only prevents future use
✅ Best Practices
- Create units before issuing invoices or bills
- Match units to operational workflows (e.g.
Hoursfor staffing,Litresfor cleaning supplies) - Avoid duplicate or overlapping units (e.g.
HourvsHours) - Review units quarterly to reflect evolving service formats
