Configure Task & Bug Stages

Define custom progress stages for tasks and bugs — enabling clear status tracking, team accountability, and automated completion logic.

🔐 Access Control

  • Only Admin users or staff with system setup permissions can configure stages
  • From the Dashboard, use the side menu to navigate: Projects → System Setup

🧭 Step-by-Step: Configure Task Stages

Task stages define the lifecycle of a project task — from planning to completion.

1️⃣ Access Task Stage Setup

  • Go to Projects → System Setup → Task Stage

2️⃣ Review Default Stages

  • The system includes default stages like:
    • Todo (grey)
    • In Progress (blue)
    • Review (green)
    • Done (green)

3️⃣ Customise Stage Names

  • Click into any stage name to rename it (e.g. QA Review, Client Approval)
  • Use clear, action-oriented labels for operational clarity

4️⃣ Reorder Stages

  • Drag and drop rows to change the sequence
  • The last stage is treated as completed by the system

5️⃣ Save Changes

  • Click Save Changes to apply updates
  • All active projects and tasks will reflect the new stage logic

🐞 Step-by-Step: Configure Bug Stages

Bug stages define the lifecycle of a reported issue — from triage to resolution.

1️⃣ Access Bug Stage Setup

  • Go to Projects → System Setup → Bug Stage

2️⃣ Review Default Stages

  • The system includes default stages like:
    • Unconfirmed (grey)
    • Confirmed (purple)
    • In Progress (teal)
    • Resolved (green)
    • Verified (black)

3️⃣ Customise Stage Names

  • Click into any stage name to rename it (e.g. Client Reported, Dev Fixed, QA Passed)
  • Use sector-fit labels for internal or client-facing workflows

4️⃣ Reorder Stages

  • Drag and drop rows to change the sequence
  • The last stage is treated as completed by the system

5️⃣ Save Changes

  • Click Save Changes to apply updates
  • All active bugs will reflect the new stage logic

✅ Best Practices

  • Use consistent naming across task and bug stages for clarity
  • Keep stages action-based (e.g. Waiting for Review, Ready to Deploy)
  • Limit the number of stages to avoid confusion
  • Align stage colours with urgency or status (e.g. grey for backlog, green for done)
  • Review stage setup quarterly to reflect evolving workflows
