- Account mapping helps with reporting and ledger integration
- Colour coding improves visibility in revenue charts
📋 Managing Revenue Categories
Once created, categories appear in a table:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Category | Name of the revenue stream |
| Account | Linked financial account (if any) |
| Color | Assigned swatch for charting |
| Action | Edit or delete the category |
Note:
- Categories are used when creating invoice or proposal line items
- Deleting a category does not affect historical records — it only prevents future use
✅ Best Practices
- Create revenue categories before issuing invoices or proposals
- Align category names with service offerings and reporting logic
- Use account mapping to support ledger exports or integrations
- Avoid overlapping categories (e.g.
TransportvsLogistics) - Review categories quarterly to reflect evolving revenue streams
